London, New York and Toronto: Longman, Green and Co. Printer: The Westminster Press, London, 1929. First Edition Thus. Full Morocco -- inlay is of calf. Very Good Plus. A beautiful pictorial inlay binding, depicting the precarious pedestrian bridge at which the protagonists meet their fate when the ancient pedestrian bridge snaps in the modern classic novel by Wilder -- the novella that won the young WIlder the Pulitzer Prize in 1928 and established him as a major American writer. Bound by Riviere and Son. 8vo. 20 by 14.5 cm. ix, [2], 140 pp. With 16 plates featuring Leighton woodcut illustrations. Condition: Brown or tan morocco has some staining and darkening. We would note that much of the darkening is removable with a simple eraser. Joint tips have been repaired. A few light fox marks on the fore-edge. Interior is generally clean, bright, fresh. Overall, better than Very Good, arguably Near Fine.
