Barcelona: Editorial Juventud, S.A., n.d. 104 pages total, including 8 pages of photograph movie stills from the 1931 German film, Madchen in Uniform. 9.5" x 7" softcover pictorial wrappers, featuring an image of Hertha Theile and the headmaster of the school. Although the book itself is often listed as "n.d." (no date), bibliographic records and historical context confirm its release to coincide with the Spanish premiere of the 1931 film it illustrates. The 1931 film Girls in Uniform, set in a female boarding school, one of the earliest narrative films to explicitly portray Lesbianism. The book features the Spanish version of the original play and several sepia photographs of the main actress, Hertha Theile, the headmaster of the school, and the young female students in the film. An early portrayal of Lesbianism in entertainment, Comes with a 1970's French Fiches de Cinema card that tells the history of the 1931 cast and film. Both the book and card are in very good condition.
