There is not a complete set within this lot, but I would estimate that over 170 different plates of the original 200 for this set are present in quantities ranging from 1 copy to over 20+. Plates 1-50 (Alsace, l'Anjou, l'Artois, l'Auvergne, les Pas Basque, le Béarn, le Berry, La Bourgogne) -- v. 2. Plates 51-100 (La Bourgogne, la Bretagne, la Champagne, le Comtat-Venaissin, le Comté de Foix, le Comté de Nice, Le Dauphiné) -- v. 3. Plates 101-150 (Le Dauphiné, La Flandre, La Franche-Comté, (truncated) La Gascogne, La Guyenne, L'Ile-de-France, Le Languedoc, Le Limousin, La Lorraine, Le Lyonnais, La Marche, La Normandie) -- v. 4. Plates 151-200 (La Normandie, L'Orléanais, La Picardie, Le Poitou, La Provence, La Saintonge, La Savoie, La Touraine). The plates are almost all mounted and inlaid in heavy paper mats. Each plate has letterpress label identifying the subject, locale and approximate date of style. The plates themselves are in superb condition, and are exquisite. A small percentage of the plates are present without their mounts. A few of the mounts have soiling, but overall this is an extraordinary group of this publication's imagery. There is no text included with this lot, nor any of the original boxes. Sold as a wholesale lot only of extremely framable material. Editions du Pégase, 1930. French 38x25 [51.5x35 cm]. "Original models executed by Gratiane De Gardilanne and Elisabeth Whitney Moffat. The originals were offered to the Metroplitan Museum of Fine Arts, New York by a donor who wished to remain anonymous. The reproductions are the work of Maison Daniel Jacomet at Paris. They were printed in color collotype, enhanced with around thirty stencils and retouched by hand. The monitoring work was the subject of the very particular care of Henry Royère. The paper for the plates comes from the Union des French stationeries in Paris. The pictures shown are taken with a cellphone camera and hardly convey the rich color and clarity of these prints.
