Manchester: John Creasey, 1967. Broadside. [4]p., illustrations. 24 x 16 in., folded twice to 8.25 x 12 in. Colophon: “Printed by ‘Observer’ Printing Works, Bond Gate, Nuneaton.” Newsprint evenly toned, but otherwise very good. Political flier produced for Creasey’s 1967 candidacy for parliament in the Manchester Gorton by-election following the death of Konni Zilliacus. Creasey, a crime and mystery novelist, ran on his own platform for the All Party Alliance, a group of his own making. His talking points played off British nativism and opposition to “illegal immigration;” decline in industry, especially cotton; and a tough-on-crime attitude. “If you are angry with Labour, don’t just abstain!”.
