"We are still in the mountains, encamped in the bushes and rocks, where no one can see us or we seen anyone. Since the middle of last week we have had a most miserable time out in the rain and storms without shelter and with very short rations. We could have built some kind of protection against the rain but the general says we are not to remain here very long and will not let us prepare anything so we set by the fire and sleep in the daytime to avoid (truncated)
