First edition; 9 x 6; pp. 1-10; glossy, white, pictorial wraps; illustrated with a photograph; light wear along spine; in very good or better condition.Written by pioneer journalist and editor Edmond Coblentz, whose entire professional career was associated with Hearst newspapers in San Francisco and New York, the booklet told the story of Temelec Hall in the Sonoma Valley, owned by the Coblentz' family in the early- to mid-1900s. The southern-plantation-style mansion was constructed in 1858 by frontiersman and Bear Flag revolutionary Granville Swift, who had made his fortune during the Gold Rush and used local stone and Native American labor during the construction.
