London: Korea Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, 1918. Good. Early-20th century edition; 9 x 6; pp. [1], 94-98, [1], 100-148; light-brown wraps, printed in black; faint discoloration to upper half (not affecting readability); a few small pieces of old tape to tips of spine and small rust spots along staples; in good to very good condition. Published as part of a series for members of the R.A.S., the booklet was originally written by Dutch sailor Hendrick Hamel, who would be credited with providing the first Western account of Korea in 1666 - 1667. While sailing to Japan in the 1650s, Hamel and his crew would be shipwrecked on Jeju Island of Joseon, from where he would not be permitted to leave, until 1666, when he would orchestrate his escape to Japan.
