1761. Paperback. Good-, some folds are tender, 2.5" through vertical center fold extending up from the bottom and hole just next to the paper seal along the inner edge of the upper left eighth. Strong impression. Another very small hole along the inner seam of the bottom left eighth affecting three letters and ampersand symbol. Folded into eighths. Unfolded measurements are 12.5" x 15" This Tax Apportionment Notice is signed by H(arrison) Gray, and appears with a printed date of December 2, 1761 at Boston. It calls for the collection of 90 pounds, 5 shillings and ten pence by Alex Willson, the Constable or Collector of Harpswell. At the time this document and warrant were issued, Harpswell was part of The Massachusetts Bay Colony. The document substantiates that Willson is to collect and deposit this amount at Boston by March 31, 1762 in order for the treasury to meet it's obligations. Pre-Revolutionary documents such as this are highly prized and very uncommon. While a tender copy, this signed broadside will display beautifully.
