The somewhat uncommon British edition of this odd mid-career work, considered by some to be one of Handke's best - a blend of private journal, aphoristic social commentary, and memoir. Amid much controversy, due to his inexplicable support of Slobodan Milosevič following the Yugoslav Wars, Handke was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2019.
