First Edition. 24 pp. front matter and text prefacing 76 plates in vibrant colors. Small folio. Very good ; previous owners' names at top right margin of the first page. 3/4 leather over brown boards, gilt embossed title badge to the front cover, gilt spine titles. Extremities rubbed, but all the same, a handsome copy. [1748]

According to its front matter, "this book was made possible through the cooperation of the various artists," among them Frank T. Ellis, of the Thomson Ellis Company, Baltimore, who supervised the making of all the engravings ; Richard D. Armiger, of the Baltimore-Maryland Engraving Company, who designed the sectional titles ; the embossing plates were made by C. Struppmann & Company, West Hoboken, New Jersey ; The title-page and headings throughout the descriptive section were drawn by Milton E. Dill, of Baltimore ; The cover was designed by Frank R. Southard, Director of the Commercial Art Courses of the United Y.M.C.A. Schools, New York. The inks used were made by Lewis Roberts, Inc., of Newark, New Jersey, under the direction of Norman L. Lavers ; The binding was executed by the Eugene C. Lewis Company, New York, under the personal supervision of Raymond E. Baylis. Scarce complete in such good condition.
