by FLENNER, J.W.
Washington, D.C.: J.W. Flenner, 1885. First Edition. 12mo. 13cm. Publisher's pale yellow paper wraps, titled in black to front wrap, with an engraving of the US Capitol building to the rear wrap. 16pp. A very good copy indeed with only the lightest marginal wear to what is a supremely fragile and ephemeral publication. Internally clean, with cheap paper stock and some rather hasty and rushed marginal trimming in places.
"Useful to all who are interested in claims against the government pertaining to pensions, increase of pensions, pensions for dependent relatives, bounties, arrears of pay, removal of charge of desertion, pay for rations, officers' musters, land warrants, and all other claims arising from service in the United States in all of the wars."
Flenner seems to have had a committed and vested interest in Veteran's Rights, although this piece only has 3 copies recorded in institutions, with nothing in trade, and a single broadside campaigning for compensation for Civil War veterans printed in 1883 which seems unknown to the usual suspects. For such a slight object, there is a considerable amount of information regarding what compensations and bounties are available to the aggrieved ex-fighting man. A fragile rarity. (Inventory #: 81088)
