First Edition/Stated First Printing; A Very Good book in a Good or better dust jacket. A typed letter SIGNED by the author laid in. A handsome copy of this account of the Marines against Japan in the Pacific during WWII, from the author of "Helmet For My Pillow". Laid in is a typed letter signed by the author thanking the recipient for his interest in this book and discussing his upcoming writing plans. This title scarce in the first printing, with the original jacket, and particularly with the signed letter from the author. This copy is in very good condition showing mild sunning to the edges, a couple of ghost tape marks to the free papers, and a PO signature to the front free paper (name matches the letter signee); housed in a clean and bright original good or better dust jacket that shows advanced rubbing and chipping to the top edges, sunning to the spine, and a few scattered short tears to the edges and corners. Overall, a presentable and collectible copy of an important Pacific Theater account. Not remaindered, not price clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar sleeve and will ship carefully wrapped in a sturdy box.
