By RUZICKA, Rudolph, illustrator
New York: The Grolier Club, 1915. First edition. One of 250 copies printed on French hand-made paper. Presentation copy, inscribed on the first blank "To Percival M. Barker, Rudolph Ruzicka, Sept 10, 1915." The recipient, Dr. Percival Barker was, according to his obituary in the New York Times, "a member of the Grolier Club and well known as a collector of rare books." He passed away at the age of 48 in 1930. One of the illustrations, on page 31, is signed by Ruzicka. This beautiful book was not signed at publication and is seldom found signed or inscribed. Slight wear at the head and base of spine, otherwise a very good copy. 4to, illustrated with 30 color wood engravings by Ruzicka of which 10 are full-page printed in Paris by Emile Fequet, original cloth-backed unprinted paper over boards, spine label. Slight wear at the head and base of spine, otherwise a very good copy.
