1969 · Madison, WI
Madison, WI, 1969. Poster. 11x17 inch poster by the countercultural Mifflin Street community in Madison Wisconsin that organized anti-war block parties; acquisition date penciled on blank verso, light middle crease, along blank verso, the crease is a bit toned, slight edgewear on top right corner, else very good. This poster was for the first Mifflin street "Miffland Community" block party. About 500 were put up around the Madison-based community in May 1969. Increased police tensions in the community emerging from anti-war sentiment and a robust student movement led to a riot when the police tried to shut down the block party. (Inventory #: 318913)
