By Freeman, R. Austin
New York: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1941. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good/Near Fine. Thick 8vo. Individual pagination for each story. Beautiful First Edition of this anthology of Freeman's stories and novels containing "Meet Dr. Thorndyke", Mr. Pottermack's Oversight" and other works including a never before published essay on Austin's approach to writing the mystery. Bound in green cloth with titles in black on spine and "Red Badge" logo on front board. Square, tight and clean throughout save some minor off-setting to rear end-papers. A hint of wear to spine ends and tips but barely. Some staining to top of text block but not affecting interior. Remarkably well-preserved for such a thick book. Very attractive, and quite scarce, clipped dust-jacket, has a small chip to the top rear edge and a short closed tear on the bottom rear edge. Spine panel mildly toned. Still fresh and bright and almost impossible to find in any condition. A gorgeous collectable copy and a most uncommon example in such nice condition and with jacket. (Not in Hubin).
