Excellent condition with minor shelf wear to spine and corners, suitable for exhibition and study. OUTSTANDING COPY IN THE STRIKING ILLUSTRATED WRAPPERS, SURELY THE FINEST OBTAINABLE. According to the Preface, the present volume represents "the first major book devoted wholly to the subject of transvestism." This volume was compiled by a noted sexologist for the use of medical professionals, and contains 18 articles written by and about transvestites. The editor, David O. Cauldwell (truncated) (1897-1959), was one of the "early and important American voices on transsexuality" (Taylor, 2008). Of particular currency today is the chapter on transsexuality and gender identification by David Keller, M.D. entitled "Changing Sexual Characteristics."

The work is divided into two parts: The Origin and Nature of Transvestism (five essays, three of which were written by medical doctors), and thirteen autobiographical accounts (all written under pseudonyms). There are essays on Transvestism and Homosexuality, DeChoisy "Prince of Transvetites," The Nature of Eonism," and "Effeminate Men." The titles of autobiographical accounts include: "I Am Accepted," "My Experience as a Transvestite," "Confession of a Female Impersonator," "I Wear Dresses - So What!" "Transvestism and Fetishism," "Transvestism and Narcissism," "A Bisexual Transvestite," "A Middle-Aged Transvestite," and more.
