[Sheet music]: The New Ireland Over the Ocean
- Softcover
- New York: Chas. W. Held, 1893
New York: Chas. W. Held, 1893. Softcover. Near Fine. First edition. Folio. Single bifolium with a single sheet insert making six pages. Light edgewear and toning, else near fine. For voice and piano. Plate imprint, "C.W.H. 209 -3." The cover states that this song was sung by Miss Nina Bertini Humphrys and is dedicated "to the exiles of Erin," with the "new Ireland" being a reference to America as made clear in the chorus, "Who's at home 'neath the green flag, or red, white and blue/Of that new Ireland over the ocean!." Features an interesting statement regarding the third verse referencing "the belief common among the Irish peasantry that the man or woman who washes hands in the dew of the first morning in May can see fairies and spirits move through the air." Unrecorded by *OCLC* and it appears to be equally scarce in the trade.
