Monterey, California: By the authors, 1947. First Edition. Very good. Small broadside; 9 x 6; salmon-colored stock, printed and decorated with an intricate border in blue; minor fading and a small closed cut to right edge; in very good or better condition. A beautiful advertisement for a series of performances at California's First Theatre in Monterey, it was the work of two talented, enterpreneurial women and co-founders of the Denny - Watrous Management - author Hazel Watrous (1888 - 1954) and theater producer Dene Denny (1885 - 1959). They would also found Monterey's first art gallery, the Denny - Watrous Studio for musical performances, the Carmel Musical Society, etc. The play's main protagonist was the notorious outlaw and robber of Wells Fargo stage coaches Charles Earl Bowles, who would gain notoriety of epic proportions, for his modus operandi would be to leave behind poems at the scenes of his crimes, signed "B. B." or "Black Bart The Po 8."
