The text is in two parts. Part One, the "History", covers the invention of movable type printing by Gutenberg in the 15th century and traces its development throughout Europe. .
Part 2. the "Art of Printing" gets into the technical aspects of printing, including the various techniques and processes involved, including typography, engraving, and papermaking.
Luckombe published a similar book the previous year, "A Concise History of the Origin and Progress of Printing...."
