1662. VAENIUS, Ernestus. Tractatus physiologicus de pulchritudine :juxta ea quae de Sponsa in Canticis canticorum mystice pronunciantur. [8], 60, [2] pages, illustrated throughout. 8vo, 19-century straight-grained morocco. Brusells: Typis Francisci Foppens, prope` Templum Societatis Jesu, sub signo S. Spiritus, 1662. An unusual little book, which would seem to take its inspiration from Della Porta's celebrated sixteenth century work work on physiognomy. However, unlike Della Porta, the author restricts himself to the study of the female form. A rare book with OCLC listing only Princeton, BYU and the Menil Collection in the U.S. With the book plate of Robert Samuel Turner, whose library was sold by Sotheby's in 1888.
