Augustine Birrell (1850-1933) was a British Liberal politician and writer who served as Chief Secretary for Ireland from 1907 to 1916, during which he faced significant criticism for his handling of the Easter Rising. He was also known for his literary work and essays, contributing to the intellectual and political discourse of his time.
