Duodecimo, [26] pp. From the bibliography, "[a] compilation of texts and nineteen wood-engravings by the Gill and Pepler children viz. Elizabeth, Petra and Joanna Gill, David, Stephen and Mark Pepler. The illustrations include two drawings by Elizabeth Gill engraved on wood by Eric Gill, P48 and P158."

A charming little book with mostly Christmas-themed text and illustrations, but also with "The Story of a Boy and Girl", "The Dwarf and The Giant", "The Wicked Pirates" (each of these only about a page long) and, towards the end of the book "Bedroom Rules" which opens with "Rise 7.30 and Dress, Wash, Brush Hair and clean Teeth; say Prayers, turn back Bed..." The final page, "Note", tells us that "The Printer is in hot water for having failed to submit proofs to the authors..."

___DESCRIPTION: Bound in pale grey wraps with black lettering and one of the illustrations on the front in black, note that the date on the front wrap is incorrectly printed as "MCMXXI" (1921), not the correct date of 1919, small illustration on title page, a total of nineteen small wood-engravings throughout; duodecimo size (6 7/8" by 4 5/8"), [26] pp.

___CONDITION: Near fine, the wraps clean, the top corners slightly bent as the wrap extends slightly above the text block, a solid text block with strong hinges, the interior is clean and bright, the sole prior owner marking we see a very small number written in black ink at the fore-edge bottom corner of the front free endpaper; light edgewear at the top of the wrap, else fine.
