Original Cutwork/Scherenschnitte Tree with Birds in Branches

  • [Pennsylvania?] , 1860
[Pennsylvania?], 1860. Very good. Some adhesive residue to verso.. Small folk art example of "scherenschnitte", or hand cut paper art. This example was folded before being hand-cut resulting in the beautifully symmetric design here. Depicts a tree with two birds and a bright star at the top of the branches. Mounted on light blue construction paper measuring approx. 3.5" by 2". A lovely token, perhaps Pennsylvania Dutch.
