Set aside as a "forest reserve" in 1905 by President Theodore Roosevelt, Klamath would be designated a National Forest in 1907. Lying along the border of California and Oregon, the region had been home to Native Americans long before recorded history. The current booklet outlined the history of the forest and of the name Klamath, the natural resources, the recreational activities, "good manners in the forest," etc.
