  • Stapled wrappers
  • New York: Equitable Life Assurance Company, 1912
New York: Equitable Life Assurance Company, 1912. Stapled wrappers. Very Good +. A sharp copy of this uncommon 1912 1st edition. Bright and VG+ in its stapled, pictorial wrappers, with very light wear along the spine. Octavo, 15 pgs., numerous black-and-white photos. Scarce pamphlet, with a detailed description of the fire that engulfed the Equitable Building at 120 Broadway on January 9, 1912. The pamphlet cites several sources --excerpts from the New York Times, the Human Factor, Leslie's Weekly, letters to and from the president of Equitable and Mayor Gaynor. Dramatic photographs depict the scene after the fire was put out, with thick mounds of ice enveloping the building. Includes a laid-in flyer for the company, which may or not be unique to this copy (because of the pamphlet's scarcity, wrere not able to say).
