George Dod Armstrong (1813-1899) was a Presbyterian minister with an educational background in chemistry and mechanics. He was born in New Jersey, but spent his professional career as a resident of Virginia. This work, The Christian Doctrine of Slavery, defends the practice of slavery through Armstrong's readings of the Bible, with specific references to verses throughout.
