Laid in is a APC, an announcement for Henry Miller's The Red Notebook, published as Jargon 22, from Jonathan Williams, the publisher, to a Mrs Constable, May 9, 1958". Williams writes: "Here's the Levertov book, which I don't believe you have yet. Of course I'd like Time to get interested, whatever, in Patchen. Just as a phenomenon of the will his productivity and attractiveness to a considerable number of readers it would seem to me to merit some atttention finally. Of course I know nobody gives a damn about poetry, etc., but, Patchen can be discussed variously: painted books, heart throb-type, boudoir reading voice, pride of Niles, Ohio, etc. He's a "difficult" man. I see no reason why he shldn't (sic) be, considering the shabby cultural condition and lack of attention." Williams goes on to mention some forthcoming titles from Jargon. Covers slightly tanned & lightly foxed, otherwise a fine copy.. Tall 8vo, frontispiece by Albert Kresch, original plain wrappers, dust jacket. Covers slightly tanned & lightly foxed, otherwise a fine copy.
