By Stern Brothers
New York: Stern Brothers, 1880. Very good. Circular trade card, indented to resemble a saucer; 3 1/4 in diameter; chromolithographed illustration of a boat and flowers to recto, text and an engraving to verso; rubbed spot to verso, partially obscuring the engraved shoe, else very minor wear; overall in about very good condition. An adorable advertisement for "fine shoes of all kinds, for ladies, misses, and children," it was created by German-Jewish-American brothers Isaac, Louis and Benjamin Stern, who would turn a small dry goods family business in Buffalo in 1867 into an important department store chain in New York by the 1890s.
