(ca 1895); 8 3/4 x 6; single sheet of card stock - chromolithographed illustration to recto, text to verso in red and black; two holes to upper margin, as issued, for hanging; rubbed spots to corners of verso from previously being affixed in a scrapbook (not affecting text), else mild wear; in very good condition.A beautiful advertising piece, it illustrated a cherubic-faced chef holding a stock pot of steaming soup and listed a variety of soups in different-sizes cans and tins. The Franco - American Food Company was founded in 1886 by French-American Alphonse Biardot. He opened a commercial kitchen with his sons in Jersey City and would rapidly gain success, specifically for their line of canned soup and pasta, which would be acquired by Campbell's in 1915.
