Album Collection of State Seals of the United States

Including 44 States, 5 Territories and the Cherokee Nation; with 3 duplicates.  Folio Album 310 x 235 mm., [12 ¼ x 9 ½ inches].  Ledger binding, spine cracked at joints, spine leather nearly detached.  Book label reading "Private Library of Charles M. Bawsel".   Various places, ca. 1890.

State Seals of the United States.  Beginning with the State of Ohio, this album includes the seals of all the States to 1890,.including Wyoming which was admitted that year.  Also included are Seals for the Territories of Oklahoma, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and Alaska.  The final Seal was for the Cherokee Nation, dated 1839.    Including a handwritten list in pencil of the States and Territories represented in the collection.  Probably in the hand of the collector. 

Wyoming was admitted into the Union in 1890, followed by Utah in 1896.  This album was created after Wyoming was admitted and before Utah, thus the date ca. 1890.

Wonderful survival of Americana, and a monument to the collector Charles M. Bawsel.
