A detailed manual for the preparation of tobacco for smoking or as snuff. The author provides numerous recipes. But Arents points out the value of the book is in the illustrations. These display the tobacco mixing-churns, racks, moulders, and presses for roll-tobacco, kilns, cutting machines and implements for manufacture. There is no earlier edition than 1790 recorded. The edition statement on the title page is most likely an advertising ploy. The 1802 printing is listed as the second edition. Absent from Engelmann and preceding anything in the handlist by 20 years; Arents #972 (with an illustration); Immensack 39; VD18 - 90009053.
