- n.p. , n.d.(New Hampshire circa 1808)
n.p., n.d.(New Hampshire circa 1808). This is an unfavorable critique of Jefferson's Embargo Act, which was passed in 1807. The writer, who signs himself "A Cheshire Farmer," employs recent events in American history such as the Whiskey Rebellion in his argument. S&S 14947 dates this work 1808, based on textual information, they say, on page 8. This copy has pencil annotations of a reader who, using events on page 9, works the date out to 1809. A very good copy of the first edition, with half title. Untrimmed, bound in later quarter calf over marbled boards, top half inch of backstrip chipped away. With old bookseller's description tipped onto the front pastedown, citing Kress B5344. . 22.5 cm. 13 pp.
