1870. Mammoth photo-crayotype [46 cm x 38.5 cm] / [18" x 15.25"] wear to extremities with some chipping, most notably to the upper left corner. Minor overall spotting. Family portrait of the noted western pioneer, Jefferson Hunt. Jefferson Hunt (1803-1879) lived a full and varied life. Hunt was a captain in the Mormon Battalion, brigadier general in the California State Militia, a California State Assemblyman, a member of the Utah Territorial Legislature, founder of San Bernardino, and was a western trail guide - most famously leading a group of 49ers who split, the other party became the infamous Death Valley 49ers.
