London, 1850. Very good. Light toning, remnants of scrapbook to verso.. A very elegantly produced valentine made from pink paper peeking through lace paper, with the ink inscription: "Long may our hearts united prove The Mutual Joys of faithful love And may your love return to me As constant as my love for thee". In the center is decorated with an elegant bouquet of roses made from hand-colored scraps and original watercolor artwork for the stem and ribbon. Underneath each of the roses and leaves is a hidden message. The messages are in ink manuscript. Under the roses are "Love", "Happiness", and "Contentment"; under the leaves are "Peace", "Health", "Unity", "Truth", and "Joy". Measures approx. 6.25" by 3.75
