Shelved in Case 11. L'Assiette au Beurre was a French satirical magazine than ran mainly from 1901-1912 in weekly editions, later revived in monthly editions in the 1920s before officially ceasing production in 1936. Its editorials and cartoons had socialist and anarchist messaging, and the focus on artwork over text was distinct from other humor-focused publications of the time. It is predominantly remembered for its illustrations by some of the best caricaturists and artists of the Belle Epoque era, such as Frank Kupka, Juan Gris, and Léon Carré, which were printed using zincography. 1390824.
