Dance card; 4 x 3; pp. [8]; off-white, card-stock wraps, embossed and decorated in gilt, silver, yellow, and black, and tied with decorative string; manuscript entries within; very mild age-toning to wraps; small, closed cut to tail of spine; in very good or better condition. A beautiful memento from a summer dance at Camp Dix (present day Fort Dix), the latter established in 1917 and named in honor of veteran of the War of 1812 and the Civil War Major General John Adams Dix (1798 - 1879), who would also serve as US Secretary of the Treasury and as Governor of New York. Home to the 153rd Depot Brigade, Dix had th erole of of mobilizing, training, and demobilizing soldiers from as early as World War I through April 2015.
