Tiny gouge to upper edge of front cover, else a fine and clean copy. An early annual catalogue for Stanford's stock farm. Bordering on physical and nervous exhaustion after completing the transcontinental railroad, Stanford's doctors advised he take a long rest, so he looked for something he could do without exhausting himself. He decided upon the breeding and training horses, which led to the establishment of the Palo Alto Stock Farm. The farm eventually became the largest and best-equipped trotting farm in the world. This catalogue includes Stallions, Brood Mares, Thoroughbreds, etc. Of course, Electioneer is listed. Electioneer is one of the most successful studs in horse breeding history. Very scarce! .
