S. l. (Pacific Grove, CA): By the authors, 1970. First Edition. Very good. First edition; oblong 5 1/2 x 8 1/2; pp. [10], 1-138; bluish-green, pictorial wraps, bound with small, plastic rings; illustrated with black and white drawings at the beginning of each chapter; a bit of creasing and spotting to wraps, else minor wear to text block; in about very good condition.A lovely cookbook, also including an amusing write-up on "how to preserve a husband," it was published by the Monterey Bay Chapter of 99's and produced to raise money for hosting the 24th All Woman Trans-Continental Air Race. The Ninety-Nines was founded in 1929 at Curtiss Field, Valley Stream, Long Island, New York as an organization for mutual support of female pilots, for the advancement of aviation, and for maintaining a central office with files on women in flight. Amelia Earhart would be elected its first President in 1931 and the name "Ninety-Nines" would be chosen to represent the, then, 99 charter members.
