Dayton, Ohio: Dayton & Western Railroad, 1853. Book. Very Good. Cloth. Tall 8vo. Earnings/account ledger for the Dayton & Western Railroad Company, Pasted on paper label at top cover reads "Coupon Paid 1st 2nd 3rd Mortg.". Bound in brown cloth approx. 200 pages on light blue paper ruled rectos only with headers printed each page "Earnings of the Dayton and Western Railroad company in ___185_". First page blank and approx. 50 pages blank at end. Manuscript entries in pencil and ink mostly rectos but also some verso entries for the remaining approx. 150 pages. Dated starting August 1853 to Nov. 1855, with some entries dated 1861-1865 and one entry as late as 1869. Very Good, the boards rubbed at spine and corners. The Dayton and Western Railroad Company was chartered February 14, 1846 to construct a line for the 38 miles from Dayton to the Indiana State line. Track laying began Aug. 6, 1852 and the road opened in Indiana Feb. 1853. Tall 8vo- 10" x 8" .
