The Negro: From the Picture in the Vernon Gallery

London, n.d.. Very Good. Woodcut (?), Portrait. 35 cm x 24 cm. Light foxing visible in white space around image and on the back. Very little foxing on image. Later copy of a clipping about this print stapled in upper left corner of picture referencing Stowe's popular fiction (Uncle Tom's Cabin) which date the original clipping as sometime after 1852. This print appears to have been first printed around 1845 but the paper feels later than 1845.
