Hand set in Winchester Roman, an experimental Linotype face designed by Dwiggins. Includes a tipped-in photograph of Dwiggins and 5 other tipped in photographic plates. A fine copy. William Addison Dwiggins (1880-1956) was a notable book designer, typographer, illustrator, and writer. He gained popularity through his advertising work in the 1920s. He later partnered with Alfred Knopf, designing their trade books, and with Mergenthaler Linotype Co. Dorothy Abbe, the designer of this item, worked for Dwiggins, as his "helpmate, confidante, and designer."
