Postcards were the main form of communication in the 'Golden Age of Postcards,' the period generally referred to from 1898 through 1915. The Postal Card Craze spread throughout the world in the first decade of the 20th century. The establishment of the Federal Rural Delivery in America in 1896 suddenly made it possible to send a postcard of Yellowstone Park to almost anyone in the world. Yellowstone Park and postcards are almost synonymous. Yellowstone has been defined through the images on postcards as perhaps no other place on earth.
