1756. BARDWELL, Thomas. The practice of painting and perspective made easy in which is contained, the art of painting in oil, with the method of colouring and a new account of the art of perspective. [iii]-v, 64 pp. and 6 plates. 4to, 270 x 218 mm., nineteenth century three-quarter morocco. London: Printed by S. Richardson for the author, 1756. An interesting and scarce work by the eighteenth-century English portrait painter Thomas Bardwell. The section on painting deals exclusively with the oil technique and may be considered one of the most original productions of its kind written in England. Signed by the author on the verso of the title-page. A marginal stain to the first eight leaves, and to two of the plates, but otherwise sound.
