- Chicago: Arrco Playing Card Company, 1940
Chicago: Arrco Playing Card Company, 1940. Very good. A deck of miniature playing cards in original box and embossed leather case, n. d. (1940s); 52 cards + 2 Jokers - 2 1/2 x 1 3/4; very minor age-toning and wear - in about near fine condition; card stock box in blue and white, illustrated with a picture of a dog - a bit of wear along edges - in good to very good condition; embossed, polished calf case with a snap fastener - some wear along edges - in good to very good condition.A lovely Yosemite National Park souvenir, the cards were created by the Arrco Playing Card Company - iconic throughout the 20th century and quite popular with magicians, though somewhat faded into obscurity in recent years. The business was founded in 1927 under the name of the Arrow Playing Card Company. The company would take Chicago's Century of Progress World's Fair in 1933 as an opportunity to emerge with its new name - Arcco.
