Since 1997, the Swiss-owned media company Ringier has invited a different artist to illustrate their annual report that's distributed to shareholders. For the 2008 report—in which the company celebrated its 175th anniversary—the artist was Josh Smith, who designed the color wrappers as well as a sequence of over 100 glossy color plates. As per his artist statement: "The meaning of the large group of color images is not important. The publication has a weighty feel, which seemed inevitable given the context. It is well-proportioned so that it is easy to hold, view, and read.
