By Brown, J. Newton D. D.
Philadelphia, PA: American Baptist Publication Society, 1860. Very good. Early printing, most probably the last one during the uthor's lifetime, n. d. (1860s - the American Baptist Publication Society moved its quarters from 1420 Chestnut Street, where the first printing of the booklet was issued, to 530 Church Street, the current publication, in the 1860s); 6 x 4; pp. [2], 5-36; off-white wraps, printed in red and ruled with an elaborate border; a small nick to top edge of front wrap, else minor wear; in very good or better condition. John Newton Brown (1803 - 1868) was an influential Baptist minister, publisher, and educator. He was also editorial secretary of the American Baptist Publication Society. He would be remembered best for drawing the New Hampshire Confession of Faith - adopted by the New Hampshire Baptist Convention in 1833 and to this day - widely accepted by Baptists as a clear and concise statement of their faith.
