S. l. (Sacramento, CA): State Printing Office, 1943. Very good. Broadside; 11 x 8 1/2; off-white paper, printed in black and decorated with the Seal of California; a bit of wear and creasing to edges and faint intersecting creases; small stamp of a sporting goods shop to upper margin; in about very good condition. In June of 1943, the Federal War Production Board issued Order M-301, under which hunters were allowed to keep deer hides for their own use, but were asked to “forego such personal gratification” and were urged to instead donate them to the Government, for the manufacture of aviators’ gloves, headgear, and other equipment for the military. The current broadside, published under the auspies of then California Governor Earl Warren, described the order and outlined the ways for preserving the hides in the best possible condition - "Avoid dragging the animal," "Rub plenty of salt...," Do not expose to the sun...," and so on.
