South Pasadena, CA: Ward Ritchie, 1933. Limited Edition. Wraps. Very Good. This is a variant of the commonly seen edition that was printed in 125 copies with light blue paper wraps. This variant is slightly larger that the common version, the text block has uneven edges due to how the leaves were folded, the paper is a less heavy stock than the common version and does not have an indication of the number of copies printed at the colophon.

Alice Millard (1873-1938) was a rare book dealer when it was unusual for a woman to pursue that profession on her own, not as an assistant to a spouse, although that is how she began her career with her husband, (truncated) George Millard upon their marriage in 1901. Millard was unique in that she commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design and build two houses for her, the first for the married couple, known as the George Millard House (1906) in Highland Park, Illinois; her second house was commissioned in Pasadena, California, after the death of her husband, and was christened La Miniatura (1923). Millard would run her rare book business from her house until her death. Exhibitions, like this one, were common in her business, although this was likely the most lavish of her exhibitions given the shear breadth of work that was presented. This publication was printed in an edition of 125 copies on March 11, 1933 by famed Southern California printer, Ward Ritchie (1905-1996). 60 pp. 4to. Light ecru paper wraps with the printed title, "Order Touched With Delight" in red text on the cover. Interior printed with the occasional splash of red font where appropriate, including a drop-cap initial that begins Mrs. Millard's essay on Cobden-Sanderson that introduces the exhibition that contained 166 works by Cobden-Sanderson and the Dove's Press.
