First of two editions, both issued in 1803. The author, José Hipolito Unanue was the head of the main Franciscan monastery in Lima at this time. Here, he proffers a written description, including measurements and siting details, of the large mausoleum being erected there for the burial of members of the order and of local religious societies. The descriptions is evocative and informative, though this copy lacks the engraving of the structure by Marcello Cabello. Nevertheless, a very scarce work; OCLC locates three copies in U.S. institutions -- Yale, Duke, and the JCB.
