This is a complete and fascinating set of the famous Jewish Quarterly Review, First Series, published between 1888 and 1908. IT IS NOT THE REPRINT EDITION OF 1966. It was edited by I. Abrahams and Claude G. Montefiore, who not only wrote copiously themselves but attracted to their pages scholars of international fame such as F.C. Burkitt, R.H. Charles, T.K. Cheyne, F.C. Conybeare, S.A. Cook, M. Friedlander, H. Graetz, G.B. Gray, J.H.A. Hart, H. Hirschfeld, D. Kaufmann, S. Krauss, etc... These original magazines are bound in a modern library blue cloth and belonged to the Jewish Community Library. A 21st volume is added to this collection; The Analytical index which was published during the reprint edition of the JQR IN 1966. Minor rubbing along edges of bindings. The 14th volume (1901-1902) has a different binding (green cloth) and comes from a different library. Some ex-library stamps on title-pages. Sporadic foxing throughout. Bindings in overall very good, interior in very good to near fine condition.
